A grand antique Victorian serpent ring from the late 1800s depicting a beautiful, coiled snake crowned with a bright old mine cut diamond in a flush setting upon its head, with two pink ruby eyes below. It weighs approx. 0.30ct and has a dazzling sparkle and superb SI 1 clarity – H colour. Â
Serpent rings became increasingly popular in the Victorian era after Prince Albert gifted the young Queen Victoria with a serpent ring during their courtship. The snake came to symbolise an enduring love and friendship with its coiled shape representing eternity.Â
The piece is all solid 18ct gold and has developed a lovely smoothness and patina over time. It looks wonderful coiled around the finger and is complete with Birmingham hallmarks within, dating it to 1887.Â
